Who can have a library card?

Individuals of all ages who are residents of Johnston, residents of contracting communities, or residents of areas with libraries participating in Iowa’s Open Access program may apply for a library card.

The Library issues several types of cards:

• Standard Cards
• Provisional Cards
• Teacher Cards
• Computers Only Cards

Fees

Your library card is free. Library cards expire every two years. Renewal requires verbal verification of street address and other contact information. Borrowing and access to online resources are suspended when a library card expires.

Checking out items

You must have a valid library card to check out materials. When you check out, the staff will remind you of any outstanding delinquencies.
